Spoiler In one of the images you're given, there is some text that appears to be encrypted. Follow that trail and you'll find an auction listing.
Still struggling. I know that the second code is Spoiler hexadecimal but, when I plug it into ASCII to Hex, it decodes to gibberish - someone kick me in the right direction, please!
Make sure you're putting the hex code into the hex box, and then looking in the ASCII box for the decoded text
Oh for fuck's SAKE!!! I go to sleep for a few hours and wake up to this...?! Why are people insisting on treating me like I'm stupid...?! If that should be spoilered, I apologise. I'm slightly FUCKING PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW!!!
I removed the image because it does contain the CORRECT decrypted text. Make sure you decrypt BOTH pieces of encrypted data present in the image.
Yes I have and I've been there and entered the decoded string and it STILL makes no sense! What the fuck am I supposed to be looking for...? Where do I enter the string....? Verge of giving up here (and I DO NOT give up easily). Please bear in mind that I'm high-functioning autistic, so my brain doesn't work the same way as most people's (nor most autistic people, come to that).
I know about Spoiler the church but I didn't mention it because it's on Spoiler the photo and seems too obvious. But, then again.... ARGH!!! Need a new brain!
How stupid of me! I've just noticed the Spoiler double letters . Now I know who that dude is and what he's noted for discovering, but I'm not entirely certain how it fits into the rest.
Thanks for the hints, it helped here and there when I got completely stuck. Being pretty much new to this sort of games, I'm thankful for a very helpful community.
Alright, Agent, are you ready for your first real mission? Let's get to it. Nudgery I've tried to write this in such a way that you can get progressively stronger hints. Working it out yourself is the fun part, and where you really learn. Try the little nudges before moving on to the big ones. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-3.0 - Merchant Missing The answer input box is "shortened" - the syntax shown may not 100% reflect the syntax of the answer. It seems to have gotten cut off. Here is a more complete answer syntax: Spoiler XXXXXXXX XXXXX XX XXX XXXXXX XXXX Nudge: Spoiler Look through all the documentation provided. The Agency has provided you with the necessary tools to begin your investigation. Look through the photos from the crime scene with that in mind. A Long Winded Joke/Hint that I am wrapping up in spoiler tags to keep the post short Spoiler We can rely on techniques passed down to us by the ancients. A scroll was recently unearthed out of a cave by the dead sea - previously undiscovered. Scholars unraveled it with extreme care and when the translation from Aramaic, Assyrian, and Ancient Greek was complete one message stood out: "Did you Google it?" Online searching is incredibly valuable. See a term you don't recognize? Search it. Something looks important? Search it. Completely stumped and given a document that appears to be part of a larger text? Search it. Bigger Nudge: Spoiler You are wielding asciitohex.com like a hammer - does anything in the photographs look like a nail? What object is for sale? Search online for more information about this document. Is it part of a group? Who wrote it? Was it a person? Was it an organization? Biggest Nudge: Spoiler Do you remember what hexadecimal, decimal, ROT13, and binary look like? You won't need them all here - but you should be able to recognize them. Occult artifacts are usually associated with a certain group. If you were to investigate the "sword in the stone" - you would soon find yourself reading about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The organization we are looking for isn't a group of knights, but they do call themselves an order. They also originate from the same country as the Arthurian legends.
...Oh my god, thank you so much. That bit about the answer input being shortened made me facepalm. I think some people like myself may be trying to dig too deep. I've been staring at the answer for about 20 minutes now, trying to read more into it.
Hello I just spend 2h and 20 min to finish demo of BW and i only managed to do that because I gave up and ended up here Here is how my search went - i tried not to post any spoilers but hidding it just in case Spoiler - looked thru the pictures - noted the ciphered code - but continued for bigger picture - found nothing else, back to code, cracked it and read the msg - googled the mentioned document, went to asociated organisation website and found the document itself - it told me nothing so i go back to msg, found the bid information - back to pictures, found about auction, googled the place - went to place website looking for some clues on the event (watched galleries, looked thru biuletins from period when the aucion took place - date is on the pic) - manuscripts mentioned a temple so I kept looking - Finaly I tried only one answer that came to my mind and it was "agent" Is there any actual evidence "in-game" which points a finger on a proper answer??? Im not a native english speaker (like You didnt figured it out already ) and i was not familiar with word "culprit" - looked it up and basicly means guilty party so I looked for evidence and didnt found any... I suppose it was used as another clue to an answer and as i can see an answer is based on clues the proper word should be "suspect" or something similiar - I was rather missled by this. On the other hand there is poster mentioning auction and church (btw auction took place 27.03 and the date on pic is 04.04 so I assumed merchant went missing after the document was sold), there is bid in coded msg, manuscript mentions the temple and the last picture looked like to ma as a catholic school so if there is any link with all this to the culprit can someone point it out for me? In the end only place where the answer was locted for me was wikipedia and guesing the answer only from this was a really big longshot for an Agent, even from a video game Are all the missions like that? (and im assuming that I dint miss anything except the proper answer ) Because the game is realy interesting and I'd like to play some more but im scard it might end bad for my laptop PS:Sory for my bad english
Yes, a lot of the challenges in TBW rely on doing outside investigation. Think of it like riddles, almost!
