Another picture change, this time on the home page. Looks like there's a reflection in the glass. I'll enhance tonight once I get to my computer.
Aye, good point. If so, I find it odd, then, that there's also this: Spoiler The Executive Suite, and the exact same, but different addressed, Executive Suite.
Spoiler They look identical but that one of them is just a shade brighter. They also have radically different file sizes. The smaller one http://barbizonhotels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/queen-e1408486676806.jpg has been edited from the original. Looks like something for a steg expert to throw their tools at.
Aye, also noticed slight variations after flipping one and comparing them in rapid succession, nothing of note though. As for the filesizes, I suspect that might be because of the EXIF details aren't included in the smaller file, although I wouldn't rule it out just because of that (no idea how much EXIF details take up in terms of space). Ran them through Stegdetect, but both came up negative.
If you have that same image, but from before the change, I might be able to do some digital wizardry and figure out what is being reflected.
Spoiler: For the sake of the sanity of those checking for room picture changes. Two of the rooms seem to be from here, Double Deluxe and Royal Suite. Apartment Suite from here. Queen Deluxe matches a stock photo here, not sure if there's a hotel it's from though. Single Deluxe, though this appears other places, so perhaps stock. The Executive Suite seems to be part of a hotel website template. edit: Spoiler: Here are high quality versions of what I believe are the originals, all in one place :) https://app.box.com/s/0es9kvmq45pvg6ywydk5
in regards to the dual executive pics. The simple named version queen.jpg is probably the original and it has a lot of exif data. part of the jpegsnoop output below: Spoiler *** Marker: APP13 (xFFED) *** OFFSET: 0x00000014 length = 8226 Identifier = [Photoshop 3.0] 8BIM: [0x0404] Name=[] Len=[0x0270] IPTC [0x1C01:090] City = [%G] IPTC [0x1C02:000] Record Version = [0x0000] IPTC [0x1C02:120] Caption-Abstract = [Hotel room in a tropical resort with bed and wooden flooring] IPTC [0x1C02:005] Object Name = [Hotel room with bed and wooden] IPTC [0x1C02:055] DateCreated = [20120412] IPTC [0x1C02:060] TimeCreated = [093909+0700] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [aroma] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [aromatherapy] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [asia] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [beauty] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [bed] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [bedroom] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [care] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [clean] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [decor] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [decoration] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [fresh] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [furniture] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [health] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [holiday] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [home] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [honeymoon] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [hotel] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [interior] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [luxury] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [massage] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [natural] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [nobody] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [peaceful] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [pillow] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [privacy] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [relax] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [relaxation] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [resort] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [retreat] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [romance] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [romantic] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [room] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [spa] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [spiritual] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [therapy] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [towel] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [travel] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [treatment] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [vacation] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [white] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [wood] IPTC [0x1C02:025] Keywords = [wooden] 8BIM: [0x0425] Name=[] Len=[0x0010] 8BIM: [0x043A] Name=[] Len=[0x0093] 8BIM: [0x043B] Name=[] Len=[0x01B2] 8BIM: [0x03ED] Name=[] Len=[0x0010] 8BIM: [0x0426] Name=[] Len=[0x000E] 8BIM: [0x040D] Name=[] Len=[0x0004] 8BIM: [0x0419] Name=[] Len=[0x0004] 8BIM: [0x03F3] Name=[] Len=[0x0009] 8BIM: [0x2710] Name=[] Len=[0x000A] 8BIM: [0x03F5] Name=[] Len=[0x0048] 8BIM: [0x03F8] Name=[] Len=[0x0070] 8BIM: [0x0408] Name=[] Len=[0x0010] 8BIM: [0x041E] Name=[] Len=[0x0004] 8BIM: [0x041A] Name=[] Len=[0x0345] 8BIM: [0x0428] Name=[] Len=[0x000C] 8BIM: [0x0414] Name=[] Len=[0x0004] 8BIM: [0x040C] Name=[] Len=[0x15A1] 8BIM: [0x0421] Name=[] Len=[0x0055] 8BIM: [0x0406] Name=[] Len=[0x0007] Photoshop Save As Quality = [10] Photoshop Save Format = [Standard] *** Marker: APP1 (xFFE1) *** OFFSET: 0x00002038 length = 6527 Identifier = [Exif] Identifier TIFF = 0x[49492A00 08000000] Endian = Intel (little) TAG Mark x002A = 0x002A EXIF IFD0 @ Absolute 0x0000204A Dir Length = 0x000F [ImageDescription ] = "Hotel room in a tropical resort with bed and wooden flooring" [Make ] = "Canon" [Model ] = "Canon EOS 5D Mark II" [Orientation ] = Row 0: top, Col 0: left Offset to Next IFD = 0x00000003 *** Marker: APP2 (xFFE2) *** OFFSET: 0x000039B9 length = 3160 Identifier = [ICC_PROFILE] ICC Profile: Marker Number = 1 of 1 Profile Size : 3144 bytes Preferred CMM Type : 'Lino' (0x4C696E6F) Profile Version : 0.2.1.0 (0x02100000) Profile Device/Class : Display Device profile ('mntr' (0x6D6E7472)) Data Colour Space : rgbData ('RGB ' (0x52474220)) Profile connection space (PCS) : 'XYZ ' (0x58595A20) Profile creation date : 1998-02-09 06:49:00 Profile file signature : 'acsp' (0x61637370) Primary platform : Microsoft Corporation ('MSFT' (0x4D534654)) Profile flags : 0x00000000 Profile flags > Profile not embedded Profile flags > Profile can't be used independently of embedded Device Manufacturer : 'IEC ' (0x49454320) Device Model : 'sRGB' (0x73524742) Device attributes : 0x00000000_00000000 Device attributes > Reflective Device attributes > Glossy Device attributes > Media polarity = negative Device attributes > Black & white media Rendering intent : Perceptual Profile creator : 'HP ' (0x48502020) Profile ID : 0x00000000_00000000_00000000 The longer named version is missing the exif information, and brain isn't in the mood for deep sleuthing.
bljkr's post reminds me: has anyone looked into steg for our 3 modified room photos? There's an potential avenue.
Aye, I've looked through them all with Stegdetect, and all except 2 came up negative: The Original Single room photo, and the flipped but unaltered Double Deluxe room photo. They did, however, not come up as "positive", but as "false positive likely", so I decided to save that information for later, and focus on other avenues. It's worth noting that, as far as I've been made aware, steganography is specific to the tool used, so it's not a given that for example Stegdetect, will reliably detect images stegged by using SilentEye, which I haven't attempted to detect with systematically.
I've crawled the site, and only managed to break the robots.txt rules 3 times. I did this to get a list of comments, both in scripts and in HTML, so that I can read through them and try to find anything new. Sadly, I only found the comment that we've discovered before that leads to the traitor end. However, I did take it upon myself to at least SAVE the list of pages it both skipped (Because of domain switch) and pages it scanned. They can be found here: http://pastebin.com/zsaPq0E3 I'm going to give the server some time before trying another scan for pages that may be hidden using some wordpress functionality. Update #1 I looped through 200 post/page ids. Results in pastebin below. Next up, Attachment Ids. http://pastebin.com/PGy4aqYi Update #2 Attachment ids, 1-200. These ones will have HTTP 200 OK, which means the link is valid. http://pastebin.com/MAhesFa3
All three are using a custom-written script so that I can control the output, but also means that I can tweak them to fit certain URL structures.
So, thanks to the AMA: Spoiler We saw a new biblical engraving in the background. It is, indeed, Gustave Doré's work, namely "The New Jerusalem", dated 1865. I apologize for the intial confusion, as I mistakenly identified the wrong image as the one we saw in the stream. (Cheers to Catalyst for spotting the mistake!)
I've updated the OP with what we've found up until now, and tried to add the processes that lead up to finding each clue. Do let me know if I've left something out. Edit: Added Catalysts lists. ^^
Should we include the URL lists I compiled for a reference for new members? That way they know what pages we've found, and can draw their own conclusions, without surfing too.
@Germans: I'm going to follow the whole thing in my German blog here: http://www.dps-corner.de/?p=7625 Good job so far. Love it.
Something possibly worth noting about the engraving found in the AMA: Spoiler It's - from what I can gather - a depiction of John’s revelation of the new Jerusalem, taken from Revelations 21. So we now have scenes from Canto 32, Canto 8, and Revelations 21.
Whoops Spoiler I had already linked the information in the map, forgot to update this thread... oops.. lol yay team work
