I am posting this here in the hope I can get a HELPFUL response from someone, as Codex-13 has taken it upon herself to be as obtuse and unhelpful as possible. I am trying to decipher the Spoiler ABST letter but have run into a problem with Encipher It; it won't allow me to decrypt the document without downloading its software, which comes in Windows or Linux flavours, I'm running MacOS. Is there another way to decode it? To which Codex replied: I think you have to press enter, I think that's how that site works. I have attached a screenshot of the message I receive when I click 'decrypt' or hit the 'enter' key. As I said earlier I cannot download the software as I'm using MacOS. ETA: I have tried using the Chrome extension, but it still won't allow me to decrypt the message for the same reason as I cited earlier.
Hi, I think there's something wrong with the format of the text you paste there (maybe it is incomplete, or contains spaces/line breaks). Because when I try to decrypt some random text encrypted via this page and I paste it, the buttons below change - I can then use "Decipher it" as shown in the screenshot:
Since Encipher.it can be a little bit user-unfriendly, I'm creating a quick guide in this thread on how to use it effectively. I've enciphered a small string of text for you to practice with. But if you try to use that button, you'll get an error-- file decryption isn't available on the desktop version. What you need to do is take the string and paste it into the text box where the bolded text is. Then the input area will change. Spoiler: new input area You can see a NEW green button on the far right of the input area that says 'Decipher It'-- that is the button to press! The password for this little practice session is 'turtle'. Go ahead and try it! In some browsers and OS'es, the 'decrypt file' button may not disappear. Additionally, if Encipher.it doesn't recognize your input as ciphered text, the buttons won't change! I put spaces and line breaks in my practice text but it still works just fine. But if you were to only copy part of the message, it wouldn't be able to decipher it and the buttons might not change. So be cautious and thorough when using this website!
