Honestly, I had no idea the game existed. I'm a huge puzzle gamer and I found it last night after searching for a unique puzzler. This game is everything I've been looking for. I used to play The Secret World and I LOVED the game but I found the puzzles weren't sophisticated enough. This one hits home. The fact that fellow Canadians developed the game cemented my support for the game and its developers.
I saw the episode of Extra Credits where they described the game so when it was on sale on steam, I may as well give it a go. I liked the idea of the game so I figured I might as well since my finals end tomorrow and I've got a summer to kill.
I stumbled upon this game on Steam, and it intrigued me. I've never heard of an ARG before then and the concept seemed interesting.
I sold my items in Steam. After that I just want to search games in "Specials" section. And saw this game. Firstly I bought it. After playing couple hours I liked it and I bought DLCs. And also I'm an information Systems Engineer that is working on a game development company. This game gave me some new opinion for developing games for iOS and Android. The game mechanic is awesome and unique. Really good job developers!!
I discovered Alice & Smith through Waking Titan (which was like an enormous revelation to me). I just now started digesting Season 2 -- should be caught up pretty soon, but hopefully not TOO soon -- and will be buying in to Ahnayro and NT4 shortly. Edit: I've since bought Ahnayro and grabbed early access for NT4. I've also bought The Black Watchmen for 3 friends who are all hooked.
I stumbled across TBW via Steam (like so many others!)... I was browsing the games under the 'Psychological Horror' tag and spotted the Illuminati-like eye of the logo, which was pretty much all it took to hook me in. After watching the teaser videos and reading a few reviews, I knew this was a game I had to experience. I've always loved the idea of ARGs, having watched from the outside as games for 'Bioshock 2' and 'Marble Hornets' play out, and TBW seemed to be a way to engage with one that wasn't just an advert for another game, but something more organic... something which would continue to grow and that I could be a part of. I love puzzles, codes & cyphers... I love conspiracies & secrets... How could I not love this too?!
I'd already been playing an MMO called The Secret World, which has similar research and code breaking features and I think has been part of some cross promotional stuff with TBW. Anyway, TBW is one of the games in the "more like this" section on TSW's Steam page.
Well I have been an Ingress player for about 3 years now, and while talking about ARGs and history with another Ingress player, he told me about this game... And now here I am
Found the kickstartercampaign in it's last minutes, sadly wasn't able to hop on the bandwagon at that Point but have followed the game since.
actually, I'm as enlightened as all humanity should be, I don't buy into the false resistance holding humanity back
I had a dream. I was at my trusty laptop, cracking codes for a nefarious group. We were trying to 'capture the flag'. We were on the defense and almost there. I had two encryption codes left to crack. I was SO close!!! This guy dressed in FED looking threads walked up to me, and handed me a card and said "I can make all your dreams come true." then he walked away. I said "yeah right, buddy." and put the card on the table and went back to cracking the encryption codes, to go on to win 'capture the flag'. That was the best time. Later, I picked up the card and looked at it. On one side it had this odd symbol, that I had never seen in all of my days of my illicit activities. On the other side, there was an address. I decided that when I got home, I'd check it out from my own secure network. A few days later, I arrived home and booted up my own box, (I always shut it down when I'm away) I put the address into my favorite browser Seamonkey. I was taken to this website that advertised this new game that offered a taste of what I was doing, but it made it sound like I could do it and not get into trouble. Hm... Sounds like it's right up my alley. So, I decided to check it out. And here I am. I'm guessing it wasn't a dream after all? ~sammi
I discovered it when Operation Dawnbloom was happening. I was checking out other ARGS Because Killing floor 2 had one for the upcoming Halloween of 2017. Now rhat has passed. But when I saw their were other games rhat were having Ongoing investigations. I saw one that was posted by Alice and Smith. At rhat point. I never heard of A&S. So I looked them up and checked out the doc one what was happening. Ended up finding the forum and just exploring. Later on I joined in bought the game and had atleasr 1 day to join in the Dawnbloom op. After that I talked with codex if I could Archive the entire op. I never had the time to archive it. So someone else did. Now I'm working on Archiving Op Tidal Vortex.
I knew about TSW since Gate 33 but I only bought it when I got a job, With the release of 2nd DLC. I did follow Dawnbloom from far away cause, as you May know it, it was more of a core team working on it, and as I followed but didn't do S1 yet, it was kind of scary to try give my theories a shot in the Discord. However, I really got into it with the announcement Of Tidalvortex DLC. Now I can't stop. (Send help) I also recruited my little brother (18yo) after the Gravity Falls ARG, as he was interested in this stuff, but he doesn't do Live Events. I plan on doing a small "the agency needs you" To offer TBW S1 to the first of my friend that complete it.

75% off discount, a friend's wishlist and remembering the co-promotion with The Secret World (which i used to play a lot prior to the Legends reboot) from way back
The game was suggested to me by steam back when it first came out. I didnt have the money to buy it at the time, so I just played the trial missions. It then sort of disappeared for awhile, at one point I even considered I might have dreamed it up, and later i stumbled back across it. Been playing since.
