I think many peoples of the Transmedia scene see the mobile / AR part as a great technology to complete the toolset of an ARG experience. Also, right now many of these AR game focus on geocaching without leveraging the power of a great and immersive storytelling. Worldwide AR success like these make many of us dream for an opportunity to bring our craft (ARG storytelling) to a wider audience. Truth is, still today it is really hard to convince investor of the potential of a well-funded ARG as a game, not just using it as a marketing stunt. Black Watchmen is a good example; we raised about 20k net during the KickStarter (50k minus the reward, amazon et KS cut). The game did cost about 275k to make. (Backend + unity client and all the content for S1) At that time, we were unable to find any investor ready to go in since there was simply no paid ARG that had financial success so far.
