If you use nslookup on the Domain barbizonhotels.com with the Parameter "set type=mx" there is no mailserver attached. So no mx record, that means there is no mailserver associated to this Domain...
Stray thought based on the leads people have found so far: - Name-drop in Teaser Trailer: "Alice Myers & Michael Smith". - Barbizon Hotels address: 1031 (October 31st). - Recent Dev-updates/videos featuring that good ol' psycho-slasher vibe. I can't shake the feeling, that these might be attempts at pointing out the fact that we're missing something. Part of this feeling stems from the notion that, as cool an easter-egg that it would be, the name-drop seems too unique to be just an easter-egg added for good fun. In addition, looking up the address - as others have pointed out - centers on part of the building without an entrance. Even centering on the location using google maps yield a slightly different result (1027 - 1129 Lucien l'Allier). Finally, the slasher cameos are somewhat disconnected from what we've been shown so far. It's certainly in the same vicinity as something as sinister as being possessed, but it's still somewhat off-mark in terms of what we know so far. *Is now forced to admit he hasn't seen Halloween, and will be reading up on the backstory in order to look for links*
For those using linux with the dig utility installed, the command would be "dig @8.8.8.8 barbizonhotels.com MX". For the record, however, mail.barbizonhotels.com answers CNAME for mail.mailsrvr.com
"For the record, however, mail.barbizonhotels.com answers CNAME for mail.mailsrvr.com" As i am not firm in using Linux, there is no way to nslookup an address behind a Domain, like mail.barbizonhotels.com But if i try to nslookup mailsrvr.com, i get this: mailsrvr.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mailstore1.secureserver.net mailsrvr.com MX preference = 0, mail exchanger = smtp.secureserver.net Further nslookups will show this: secureserver.net MX preference = 0, mail exchanger = secureserver-net.mail.protection.outlook.com outlook.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mx3.hotmail.com outlook.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mx1.hotmail.com outlook.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mx4.hotmail.com outlook.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mx2.hotmail.com ...and Hotmail leads to Microsoft, so, dead end for me...
GoDaddy hosting uses SecureServer.net and offers Outlook Exchange. I've personal experience with this.
This hadn't occurred to me - I kept seeing it as a reference to Whitechapel and the Slaughterhouse.... but with 1031 and the mask in today's update, you may be onto something (of course the Jason mask doesn't entirely fit, as, off the top of my head, I can't remember any notable Halloweens that fell on a Friday the 13th). I think I last saw it somewhere around the end of elementary school... which has been... a few years. -Bats
So we've seen Michael Myers, Halloween, the Jason mask, and Santiak saying that these things are not related to posession... but there is one Hollywood Horror franchise involving posession and, so far, has not been spotted. Spoiler
We can add another Jason (at least I think that's supposed to be Jason... a rather grey and rubbery Jason?) from the Tapping/Shyamalan/King invite video (20 frames each at 0:15, 0:28, 0:50, 1:29, and 47 for the outro at 1:42). -Bats
October 31 1975, datesinhistory.com says "Queen released their hit single, Bohemian Rhapsody. It spent 9 weeks at number 1 on the UK charts." Now, as scary as that is, I think it doesn't have any earth-shattering significance. But, it may be a good example of the progress made in mass mind control science even as early as the mid 70's. Nine weeks at #1? Well, it is possible the competition was also really terrible. How much progress has been made in mass mind control since then? Miley Cyrus, nuff said.
October 31, 1975: http://www.catholicbook.com/catholicbook/warningspart1.htm#_Toc533070406 During rites of exorcism of a swiss woman posessed by demons. The demon Judas Iscariot revealed the true state of Pope Paul VI, that he was held hostage by a group of Cardinals which are controlling the Church of Rome to accomplish their own ends.
October 31, 1975: http://demonology.enacademic.com/394/Michel,_Anneliese and other sources Judas Iscariot is a busy demon. During exorcism on October 31 1975, fourteen demons were driven from Annaliese Michel. "They come out revealing their own name and revealing the reason for their damnation: Fleishmann, Hitler, Cain, Nero, Judas, Lucifer, the unnamed of the Third Reich with two partners, an unnamed woman with other four women." But Judas was not successfully banished from Annaliese, he returned to possess her until she died the following July. While reading transcripts from both exorcisms, something strikes me as more than coincidence. In both exorcisms, the procedure is to interrogate the demons as to identity and other particulars about how they came to possess the victim. At one point Judas makes a distinction between man demons such as himself and fallen angels such as Lucifer. Nevertheless, it could be said that by the laws of God, they are all traitors to the divine will. I wonder if the exorcism interrogations intentionally correlate to Dore's depiction of interrogating traitors? And, if the point of performing exorcism is to send the demons back where they belong correlates to Dore's depiction of crossing the Styx? I'll need to look at the third Dore that was in the AMA to see how it correlates, but it is late... Even if it is all intentional, what does it all mean?
So I was just hopping around on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judas_Iscariot when I saw "In Dante's Inferno, he is condemned to the lowest circle of Hell, the Ninth Circle for Traitors, also known as Cocytus, where he is one of three sinners deemed evil enough that they are doomed to be chewed for eternity in the mouths of the triple-headed Satan (the others being Brutus and Cassius, the assassins of Julius Caesar)." I'm not very familiar with religion, so if this was a very obvious thing then forgive me. But I thought it may actually provide another angle.
I have been working that angle for days and have gotten nowhere...perhaps new eyes are needed. Right now I have the flu so nothing makes any sense...
I was only able to get as far as it being Canto 34 in which Judas is mentioned, and that the Dore piece to go with it is http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...aviewer/File:DVinfernoLuciferKingOfHell_m.jpg
Let me post what I have in my journal so far for the Inferno angle...maybe someone else will see a connection I don't
