Flickering distorted images, what looks like fragments of road maps... Hm. None of the lit up screens lead anywhere, though.

I think a lot of people are out of town for the holidays. Judging by the lack of links generated by enthusiastic clicking, and the timing of this update, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that this particular clue isn't going to be relevant until after New Years' probably.

Well the devs are away from the office for at least a few more days so Dipper sounds right. I doubt anything would happen soon(tm).

Look like it to me.

 

They look like waterways/rivers to me, given the current UK situation a flooding scenario seems imminent

 

Yeah the images look like:

• A sunset/sunrise/explosion
• Surface of a planet or the desert with a vehicle or something in the distance
• roads/waterway maps
• Tides of water on the beach

Most of this fits the current theme of weather in some way.

My best guess is a live event where sporadic instances of weather reports are occurring with sudden flooding in some areas, sudden dry spells in others, weird sunsets or glowing in the horizon, abnormal tides, etc.

 

Situation room updated again. Looks like an event is imminent. Find that 61, damn it! (changes: a repeating image was added, not a new one though, and the 61 image)

The sit room images seem to line up with the actual map, so I'm going to make a little stencil and figure out what's beneath the screens with flickering images. Might give us a hint about what's going on.

OK so I made a really rough stencil. It's ugly. But. The purple squares are all the same flickering image, the green square and blue square are each an individual image. Possible clues to a live event? Who knows!

 

I've captured the gifs from the situation room and split them into frames. Might need help with the legwork on this part, there are a lot of images to go over.

Things found in the frames:

• The numbers 0407 or maybe 0417, not sure.
• It looks like the Rostiger Nagel monument is pictured in one of the frames. This monument is indeed located in one of the 'flickering images' boxes on our map. German Wikipedia Link

From my years in Germany the gif 2 clip reminds me of a typical road tunnel, looks like cars moving through it?

 

Scrap that idea, my wife asked why I keep looking at a blurry picture of a beach with a stack of deckchairs! now I cant get that out of my mind....

 

If you consider the road maps shown to be purely a reference point for the other, more esoteric screens, you can ignore them for the moment and focus on the ones you've circled on the map in blue and green.

In the green section of the map is the city of Wetzlar, which was named one of the capitals of the Holy Roman Empire after the highest-level imperial court was moved there. This seems at first like a throwaway statement - much of Germany has roots in the Holy Roman Empire - but consider that the blue section of the map holds the city of Paderborn. This city was founded by Charlemagne, who built a castle there.

In 799AD, the Pope of the time fled from Rome for fear of his enemies there, and was sheltered by Charlemagne in the city of Paderborn for three months. Consequently, when Charlemagne returned the Pope to Rome to reinstate him there, the latter had the former crowned as the new Holy Roman Emperor, December 25th, 800AD. So both locations hold significance within the HRE.

I'm currently looking at the purple-ringed sections of the map to determine if there are any similarities between them, just wanted to get down on paper (so to speak) what I had so far.

 

@OmegaSeven I had looked into both of those things but didn't make the connection. Clever work.

 

I've finished my research of the pink sectors of the map and determined that, of all the things that are shared among the sectors, every sector has at least one castle in it. That may not be saying much as Germany is basically Castle Land. But a sliver of evidence of a link is better than no evidence of a link. And now, with all my energy poured into studying little-known German towns and procrastinating, I may take a break from it.
