You're a legend! Thanks for checking this out and sharing with us. Now to investigate this intel report.
Spoiler Freenode is an IRC server, so you don't have to physically be anywhere for the drop mentioned in the document. However, it's giving a location, so you maybe useful again... EDIT: Oh, and thank you again! Seriously, where do we begin with how happy we are. EDIT 2: Spoiler 6:30 PM tonight (7 Mar 2015). https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/4515
I'm on my phone, I don't really have the battery life to keep real time communications up, so just post in this thread if you need me, cause I'll be checking back every so often.
Freenode channel has been identified - Agents waiting for correct time - if you need more info visit division-66 channel.
A random question... How did you connect the dots? I don't see anything to indicate the channel. Unless I'm missing something really obvious....
Spoiler I suspect it was based on the receiver of the Oblivion document being a generic mail-server (@dayrep.com), which used those numbers as a username without any prior explanation - for no apparent reason. Thus creating a link between the unexplained username of the mail, and the unknown channel name - or rather, they both had the fact that they were unkown factors in common. But that's me guessing - I believe Rin was first one in the channel. That, and it was verified when user "WChandler" was found idling in that channel.
I was asleep and/or not paying attention while some of this happened, so I'm sort of piecing it together backwards... but I believe the reasoning goes something like this: Scapezero's briefcase briefing led to a QR code on a bus shelter, which led to a report on pastebin. The pastebin report said: and So someone put that together with the "four-digit reference" from [email protected] (the address that the shredded backer letter was sent to), and came up with channel #4515 on freenode. I think the current assumption is that something's going to happen there at 6:30pm (EST, I guess?) -Bats
That makes sense. Especially as we don't have further information to disprove the freenode isn't correct. Although (and correct me if I'm wrong) we have no way of knowing that the channel is correct until the event? I could set up a channel called 4516 (in theory and it would only be if the channel was full of people discussing knitting or was password protected that we would know for sure that it is incorrect before the event. Not that I have reason to think it is but I'm just wondering out loud.
As mentioned, WChandler - or Winston Chandler, the person mentioned in the Intel Report - was found idling in the channel, using a VPN as well as registered username: WChandler is ~WChandler@gateway/vpn/privateinternetaccess/wchandler * Winston Chandler WChandler using card.freenode.net Washington, DC, USA WChandler is using a secure connection WChandler is logged in as WChandler So the it seems quite likely that it is indeed the correct channel.
Ahh, I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying. Was that discussed on #division66 ? I may have missed it if it was.
Aye, was first discussed in IRC when Rin found the channel, and in my post earlier. Anywho, I've updated the OP with what I assume is the latest info we have. Let me know if I'm missing anything vital.
Hey just grabbed video of the trailer and had a chance to take a closer look and it may very well be the type of clue I thought it was as words and some numbers do flash by a couple symbols as well. clip has been trimmed to that part and is about 20 megs at 1080p for a length of a minute or so, it is trimmed to just the flash frame portion for the sake of my phones data plan and battery. Can grab more clips if needed later. Vid Link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2khjpo7TDP0aWRHQ3BaM2R4M2c/edit?usp=docslist_api
Thanks @Mechcondrid ! The video seems to be a version of the one in this page https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/division66/the-black-watchmen-game-and-comic-book, so I don't see anything out of place...
