What exactly is TBW's operational scope? As far as I understand we were founded specifically to deal with occult stuff. So why are we investigating random hackers and organized crime in Africa? Is there a mission statement somewhere? Edit: Nevermind, I just remembered some lore stuff that explains why. I forgot we're not actually a goverment organization any more.
That and ofcourse the Connection between a computervirus and people going crazy, might be something occult making the spread from machine to person possible?
Isn't this one mostly NT4 asking for our help either because of our experience, or simply because they need more hands ? They're another division, so we often help each other out
I mean, it seems right up our alley. Mass rioting, triggered by an unknown 'something' at internet cafes near high value targets: Government Offices, Embassies, Military Facilities, Major Banks and Central Transportation Hubs. It appears cyclical, which makes it appear natural or at least occult. Our current 'MO' would be best described as: Figure out who is behind these events, and get our hands on their tech. For science. Not for us to use in future operations. Definitely not. That would be unethical. Spoiler BLUECRUSH being repurposed as the variant ROSEFORCE was totally ethical though. Because we said so.
As long as it takes out the bad guys. Then again the term bad guy is relative I tend to think of us as true neutral.
Nah, we're a tool, and a tool is on whichever side the user of that tool is on. I can't remember exactly where you can find the reference to this in terms of lore (video, archive doc, etc.), but my understanding is that The Black Watchmen org is contracted/hired/commissioned by other parties to carry out these ops, but only a few people in the org actually know who those parties are. If this is true, then I've always assumed that the time could come when we agents discover we've been unwittingly helping the darkness to spread. In that case, I can completely get on board with a season where one set of agents has to lead a coup d'etat against the other for control over the direction of the agency. Not sure how that would work in-game, though, since you'd essentially be splitting the player base into rival factions, and I instinctively blanch at that possibility. I suppose you could do the coup d'etat storyline and have SIGIL or imaginary agents be the rogue element, so that all the real players were on the "good" side. That would be just as exciting from a storytelling perspective, I think.
really? from what ive gathered is that we originally started as an government station (like CIA, FBI, NSA etc...) under the name Manhattan Project or something, until we 'got cut off' or something and continued as an independant group. we are supposed to be secret and the ones who know who we are (SIGIL, AMWOG) are 'evil bastards' and are supposed to be put down ASAP i think its unlikely we work as mercenaries to some other group... (unless said group is dispatch )
From the website: As a global organization, The Black Watchmen offer a wide range of skills and services for covert missions anywhere in the world, on behalf of any group, corporation or government that can afford them. Often called in as a last resort, The Black Watchmen pride themselves on their discretion, strength and efficiency. That being said, we've been seemingly operating as a solo group rather than mercenaries. That blurb has been there for a WHILE, so it's possible that it isn't an accurate reflection of the agency in its current state. And yes, we were originally a gvt agency. More background on that can be found in the S1 pp secret missions.
I'm currently playing through Alone in the Dark Web. I just want to say this discussion is pertinent and if you don't have it yet, go get it. And make sure to focus while you play so you don't get distracted.
Just being technical here, Zaelong, but you do know that the Manhattan Project was the name for the nuclear bomb, right? I mean, I wouldn't put it past us to have some nukes on board, but I don't think that Albert Einstein was a watchman, honestly...
i know that, but during the secret missions from S1, that name was also used for us. but i lost my archives on those missions so ill have to redo those to give more concrete information on those. and if you really are interested in what we are doing, you should try to pay close attention on the briefing videos in the new dlc... we are really getting screwed here some things dont really seem to add up right now (well they do... but thats my point)
And ofcourse nukes couldn't possibly be made in an occult way... *wink* And the Nazi's had NO interest in the occult at all... *wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what i mean?*
dont worry about it, just remember; dispatch is always right. when in doubt, say the following lines; "killing people to protect our secret, is the moral thing to do" dont ask questions, and just deliver results. "dispatch knows whats best"
does anyone have a list on what divisions we actually have, and what they are doing? we all now of FalconStrikeTeam (with our beloved Mike Grisha), and theres SET6(not sure about the 6) and NT4 (which apparantly is documented as div88?) we know div66 (which is either the archive, or dispatch..) and of course div79 (which is us). i think i stumbled upon a div18 somewhere...
From the almanac: THE DIVISIONS Division 23 (Falcon Recon Team 3) The Black Watchmen’s go-to strike team, FRT 3 is dispatched for dangerous operations in the field that require stealth and deadly force. Division 33 The first unit created within the Black Watchmen. Agents of Division 33 have worked with TBW twice before, when The Secret World opened up for a brief time, and once again at the end of the world, though those memories become foggier by the minute. Division 42 The Black Watchmen’s earliest infantry division. This military unit is their rst tactical response team, although after an incident in NICE TRY the Division is no longer active. Division 54 Specializing in training and welcoming new recruits, Division 54 the Employee Relations branch of the organization, ensures that all agents are fully integrated into the global network. Division 66 The organization’s administrative and coordination division. They are the public relations arm of the Black Watchmen, the pencil pushers. Dispatch acts as their voice to the global network. Division 79 Originally formed as a technical support unit, Division 79 has grown into the core of the Black Watchmen’s extensive research and development arm. Division 88 (NITE Team 4) Network Intelligence and Technical Evaluation Team 4 is the Black Watchmen’s skilled group of hackers and technical experts. They act as the cyber warfare wing of the agency and help provide technical support during missions. Division 90 (Social Engineering Team 6) When operations require manipulation of the media or sophisticated persuasive techniques, Social Engineering Team 6 (SET 6) is called in. They are specialists in social engineering and prepare various tools for agents to use.
Yeah.. im wondering who/what div18 is... as well as some other divisions ive mightve seen being mentioned
