Sorry in advance if this isn't the right place to ask this question. I just ran across this game on Steam, and it seems really fascinating. I read about the different clearance levels, and am potentially interested in orange or yellow, but I have a severe physical disability/chronic pain that makes it fairly difficult to leave the house on the spur of the moment or go to many places (can only walk/stand for a few minutes, often use a wheelchair, etc.). How much will this affect my experience of the game?
Some live events might require to leave the house. Usualy its just to go photo something. Green agents are the ones who do most of the leg work. But even on normal levels (Red to Yellow) you can do something grom home. For example to plan an attack or help community to crack a puzzle. In summary, there is only few events which may or may not require going outside. Or you could make someone else do those missions for you Edit: well this is not a technical question so it will be moved to General when mod is around
You're never required to leave the house, even if a mission states that it's needed. So if you're having a day where that isn't a feasible thing for you, it's OK. Most events recently have had a pretty wide timefame to go out and take photos/do RL things.
As previous agents have said and also, there are allways other components to the events that does not require one to leave the house. Those parts will be enjoyed from infront of your computer of choise. Please do not hessitate to join in on the fun!
I have chronic pain as well, and if I stand for longer than 15-20 minutes my left leg goes numb and the knee buckles. It has not been an obstacle. The most intensive physical activity I have participated in, I've been an agent for a a few days over a year now and have a yellow clearance, was standing for 5 minutes at an electronics supply store(cheap visit) and driving around my city to photo Post Offices and scan their wireless networks. There was plenty of time to complete these tasks comfortably.
As someone with a disability, the post office photo tasks that others have mention has been the only one thus far in which I couldn't participate and it did not significantly affect my enjoyment of the mission as there were so many other aspects to the mission in which I could fully and actively participate. The real time events that allow me from the comfort of my computer to collaborate with others is amazing. The thing to remember about TBW is that even though the puzzles can be done individually at your own pace, the game was designed to be cooperative and the smartest and best players(which I am not will like have to use the forums or channels for help with particular missions and puzzles. I've punted on more than one occasion and used the livestream videos of other agents. Everyone hits a wall no and again, physical disability nonwithstanding. The cooperative nature of the game is actually a highlight for me. I definitely encourage you to jump in and do what you can. In that sense those of us with disabilities are just like other players
Just noticed this thread and, as I have ME, and a deep loathing of the entire human race*, was wondering the same thing. Having said that, I've been stuck in bed for the past 5 years and the chances of ever leaving this room and seeing the outside world again are between zero and none. Besides, the chances of anything TBW related happening round here are also between zero and none. This is Small Town England (and the word 'small' is used in every possible way it can be used, conservative with a small and a large C). *Kidding, but I do find being around people extremely stressful.
Hi Agent Noctua! There is tons of online tools you can use to complete some of the recon mission without having to leave the house. (Google street, satellite view, etc...)
