[MOD EDIT] Agents have received playing cards on Monday August 3rd. A number has been found behind the stamp, so make sure to NOT throw your envelope. To keep track, please add your informations into this Google Doc : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...HhK_UxZ6g4msLO34knEdeKv1VQ/edit#gid=821516912 You can also add your theories about the role of these cards/what code it could be into this Doc as well. These cards are probably related to the current Cascade 7 / Q6 mission, as all messages decrypted in Cascade 7 all had : “As a further security measure, the CROUPIERCODE has been disseminated manually to a select group of active agents. All further reports will be encoded with the CROUPIERKEY until system security is restored. “ [END OF MOD EDIT] Hi Agents, I received two playing cards in the post this morning. Sent from Canada in a gift card envelope. The stamp is of Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. The playing cards are of the Queen of Clubs and the Nine of Clubs. Nothing is out of place on the cards, and there are no anomalies on the reverse pattern. I'm posting this today as I'm away until Friday and will be unable to add more detail until then. Images attached:
Now I could understand if they sent you a Queen and a 6 after recent events, but I don't have any idea what these might be
"A croupier or dealer is someone appointed at a gambling table to assist in the conduct of the game, especially in the distribution of bets and payouts. Croupiers are typically employed by casinos." And the Cascade 7 messages decrypted all had : As a further security measure, the CROUPIERCODE has been disseminated manually to a select group of active agents. All further reports will be encoded with the CROUPIERKEY until system security is restored. Coincidence that we are receiving playing cards now, or is it the code/key?
Oh, I forgot: My envelope was lime green and has a little rose embossed on the flap, although I don't think you can see it on the photograph. The backs of the cards are the same as above.
Hi Agents, I received two playing cards in the post this morning. Sent from Canada in a gift card envelope. The stamp is of The Rideau Canal / Le canal rideau (on). The playing cards are of the Jack of Clubs (Lancelot) and the Five of Clubs. Nothing is out of place on the cards, and there are no anomalies on the reverse pattern. The envelope has an embossed flower, but this does not seem significant. there is a number written behind the stamp : 5
Awesome. Have put this together for us to keep track of cards and will aim to keep the mission tab up to date but anyone can do this so feel free to edit / amend / whatever: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1o2bS1aDHyd23rlRd3HhK_UxZ6g4msLO34knEdeKv1VQ/edit?usp=sharing
Could be that we're going to use a Pontifex Cipher (aka Solitaire Cipher) which was in Neal Stephenson's book 'Cryptonomicon' (worth reading if you haven't), although I suppose we would need to know the order of the cards... just pure speculation at this point I suppose: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solitaire_(cipher)
I had the same thought (well by thought I mean I stumbled across it when looking in to playing card codes!), I added the wiki link above and also the appendix of "Cryptonomicon" to the google doc on the Mission tab.
Careful about doing that, I had added more info to a thread yesterday, which then lead to Dylan updating his post with my info, only for a mod to then delete my post without warning and claim I was posting duplicates :/
Yeah sorry about that! Anyway I shall check to see if I have anything waiting for me when I arrive home. Tutsie's idea about the croupier may well be right.
Hi! I also got a package today. My enveloppe is lime and there is also a rose on it. I don't recognize the stamp, may be the Rockies. I got a Jack and a 9 of spades.
I believe so! What I think that does mean though, is that there will be too many possible variables for the Solitaire Code (perhaps Priathic can confirm though - I've only learned about it today). From what I can tell about that, we need to know the exact order of the cards. And whilst we know what order they should be due to the hidden stamp messages, we each got 2 cards meaning there are 2 possible orders per set of cards. Which is a whole lot of potential combinations.
