Please use this thread to discuss Mission 6 of the Alone in the Dark Web DLC. Feel free to post theories, hints, and nudges here, but please do not post the answer! Spoiler Spoiler tags are your friend. Code:
Spoiler tags are your friend.
Hi, I am currently stuck on this one. I am stuck on the first section with the quaver, and what it is supposed to represent. Thank you
NUDGES: This mission requires the ability to hear. If you are unable to do so, here is a link that will take you to an alternate method of solving Part 6-1. It is a drop-in replacement for the audio portion. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AITDW 6-1 G͜uar̶di͠an N͠udg͡e͞ Spoiler Do you remember how to excuse your dear aunt Sally? Look at the circle and star-like pattern in front of you closely. W̶hat symbol is at the ̀center? Can you hear anything? Are the dots arranged in a particular pattern? Is the star layered? Where is that sound coming from? Can you identify its source? What do our agents tell us in the document? What are we looking for? In what context is this object or entity found? Are there any words that are foreign to you in the document? That sound pretty spooky - but it is also somewhat predictable B̖͎igger Nudge: Spoiler H̵ow would ̧Julius C̛aesar w͡rite t̶he ́n͢umber ͘5? Some of the star's lines have beehive pattern, some have cubes, some look like marble and some have cracks. Can you find that sound's source? We are dealing with a website - and web pages do have sources. I found the source and downloaded it as an mp3 through some random sites that honestly I don't think are very trustworthy. I made it so you can get it from soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/user-751831091/bqaumemgd6vndnly8tqwvjgv Click the [...] button and download. If you want to get the source yourself (spoiler tag for cleanliness) Spoiler Go to the page source, then find where the sound is coming from. It's coming from a hidden youtube video. Open the "...autoplay=1" youtube link in a new tab, then right click and select "Copy Video URL" From here you can use a converter like YouTubeToMP3 or ListenToYouTube.com to download it yourself. PEMDAS Our "guardian" is commanded somehow, and is paired with a different being. Look for that being and it may lead you to our demon. We seem to have one short sound and one long one, a classic code. F̟̣inal Nudge: Spoiler I am terrible at translating this type of code by ear - I always try to view it as a waveform. Sound files can be viewed as waveforms. Are you bold enough to do this? Do you have the guts? The AUDACITY? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AITDW 6-2 R̯̲͙̮ḙ̳͇p̺̥̞̜l̤̱i̛̘̠̦̠c̱͈̗̼͕̳̤͟á̗̭̦t͏͍̥̝͕̭i̮͡ͅo̪͇̰n ̳̰̫͉ͅṢi̲̭̱̭͠g̰̠̖̤ń̜̦̙̘̗a̬͘t͈̬u̳͢r̥͖̰ẹ̖ N̼̬̬͝ͅu͙͡d͇̥̜̳͖͝ģ̮͎̹̪̦ͅe̸̝͉̝͔̼͕ Spoiler What sites is the virus looking at? Let's view them too - and read them with care. Read the documents carefully - there must be something in there that gives us a hint. Perhaps something confirmed by the subject themselves. Are there some kind of landmarks we can use to orient ourselves? Make sure you get close enough to see all the locations mentioned. Use these to trace the subject's movements. You might get hung up on capitalization, etc. Just think about the fact it is a name - this guy doesn't have very good password discipline. Bonus note about my journey: Spoiler make you SPELL THINGS CORRECTLY. I resorted to alternative measures before realizing I had merely added an extra letter to my (correct) first attempt. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AITDW 6-3 S͔̲̦͔͇̱͇ͅe̝͔͇̪̲͝r̖̳̥̼̀͝v́͏̸͙͓e͘҉̝̯̩͖̯̟r̸̪̝̘͎ ̟̟̕L̶̥̳͓͙̝̬̼̲͘͟o̷̫̮̖͈͜c̷̲̭̞̻̗̠͟4̹͈͟t̡̯̲̣̥̼̼͔̣̀͡1̯̦̪̠̀0̢͈̘̟n̢̢͈̪̣͉͉̰͢ N҉̮̪̱͕̰͢u̧̮̪̜̘d̲̪͕̠͓̲̰̰g̡̟̟̫͉̹͠ę̸̤̳̰̼ Spoiler Our replication analysis mentions terms ending in .exe. What do all these terms have in common? The first exe is associated with the item in the second column, as is the second and ̨so ͢on... The final line associated with a blank - fill this blank in. I'll add to the list: 2003 Medfield State 1994 Trans-Allegheny 1995 Beechworth B̼͇̼i̻̞͈̼͍͙͙gg͚er ̻̠͓̮Final ͔̱̝ͅNu̥͍̟͈̣dg̜̗͉͍̯̩e: Spoiler Miskatonic University gave name to Batman's version of this institution
I'm lost, the only postal office I found near the park is southeast and a little more southeast is a school, I do cross a bridge, yet even if I look through every school via google maps the answer to open the file is incorrect my thought was that it is: Spoiler Taya Elementary School
@Loki Martin Farbaute - reread carefully. The school is not the password. (at least it wasn't when I played)
I know, it's the street name, but when I type the name in like: tofu (just as an example) the password is wrong
