Only word I could find that fit that letter arrangement, so either it's Mel Brooks who's behind it all, or we have the wrong combination of letters.
Having slept a bit - and read the insights of Nikel on IRC - I do agree that it might not be letters we're looking at, if nothing else, then because finding a specific word would still leave us stranded with nowhere else to proceed (if there indeed is somewhere to proceed to). So, it might, for example, be an URL extension, such as to an Imgur album - which I believe is 5 characters long?
I've got anoher idea. Maybe we are looking for 5 words, every word related its hint, and whith all 5 words maybe taking the letters marked by the hyphen something is revealed. Now that i have seen bats letter, i have to revise my opinion...since hers starts with a hyphen, i think we may be looking at having to join them all together. I doubt its matzo, though, lol.
Oh Santiak referenced something I said on IRC but didn't really copy it here. While I think it's weird for a hangman game to have numbers, it doesn't feel right to me to shorten Zero to Z and Tetris to T, especially when M is already 1 character. I think it could be M _ T Z _, but it might also be M _ 4 0 _. Or maybe the 'unused letters' theory is correct and we should see what's left over once all 5 papers are collected.
My first instinct is to say that all of the letters in "the wind rises" are already guessed meaning (T, H, E, W, I, N, D, R, S) are not in the puzzle...

Just one vowel left? And the remaining consonants quite uncommon? That makes the remaining letters theory (at least in the "same answer contribution" theory) unlikely imho. At least if it is a key word and not an imgur code or similar But I guess we have to wait for the remaining jackets...
