Hi there! I wish to know if we are on the right path with the new mission set: Difficulty, mission immersion, narrative... Really looking for your feedbacks! Warning: please no spoilers!
I'm very early on but if you were planning on introducing 'Mike' to be a character everyone loathes, you've done a fantastic job!
I am quite happy with this set of missions! Even though I know nothing of the topic of 7-1 and it was frustrating for me, I wouldn't change it haha Some little nitpicks are the answer of 10-1, because I kept putting in [REDACTED] and wondering why it didn't work, and I'm not sure the intended path to find the answer of 10-2. Also, if it would help, I can send you the logs of the individual mission IRC channels and you can see where people had/are having trouble. I thought it was a good idea to keep #division66 spoiler free, even at the loss of bot logging.
Went into Mission 11.2 expecting hard puzzle. Instead, received Hell. Found Satan weeping in a corner because the puzzle was too hard. 10/10 still haven't solved it
To be quite honest, it seems so far that these new missions are only being made more difficult due to the question/needed answer - being more vague, as well as throwing in lots of misleading stuff, which in my opinion, doesn't make for very good puzzles, just lots of "research" into (in hindsight) useless areas, seemingly only to force community interaction(which the live missions should/already focus on). Clue 2 for mission 7.1 is one of the worst offenders, the first clue wasn't much better either. The puzzles that don't seem to be vague or misleading are too easy, like mission 7.2, mission 9.1 (neither even needed "cracking" or even any research) etc. Have done missions 7,8 and 9.1, and unfortunately I think they are the worst set of missions so far, 1-6 were a lot easier yes (probably too easy overall), but at least they weren't overly vague or misleading. I do have to say though that I really like the social engineering aspect of 9.2, easily my favourite mission of the new ones (possibly even all) so far. Hopefully mission 10 and 11 will be different, and hopefully they will bring back some of the elements from the first 6 missions like ciphers, hidden messages etc as 7,8 and 9 havn't had any so far.
Whole package of missions of week 3 is exactly what i wanted to see: teamwork. Getting the agents together to discuss possible ways of solutions, helping each other and having fun: priceless Sitting alone in your room, trying to be as fast as you can to solve all missions: not preferred by me Nuff said, grml
The new missions are taking a good step after the last set. We've got harder puzzles, more community interaction and bonds are forming between agents. But overall I'm happy with where the story is going and I ask that we keep Mike in as a friend, people hate him for some reason but I like him and its nice to talk to other people in different departments, it would be cool to become more involved with Mike in the future and make a friend and contact to be used in the future. Just my two cents, good job guys..now back to 11.2
A lot more teamwork involved, but the biggest issue I still see the vagueness of the replies, and how being close but not exact is not recognized to atleast let you know you are on the right track. I also had several situations where I typed in the answer (confirmed with others) and it rejected it, and I restarted the client to enter it again and it worked fine.
I think the missions were great and, to be honest, I didn't agree with the vagueness aspect some other agents mentioned. It sometimes takes more than one reading of what is being asked.
Loved the missions so far, this weeks have been great, working with everyone to try to figure out stuff and working as a team added a to it. I believe the missions are heading in the right direction, although, I think I would like to see them last even longer, I enjoyed the fact it took us as a group, almost 20 hours to get mission 11.2 down.
Really enjoying the missions so far, and I feel that they have contributed to bringing more members of the community closer to each other. As has been mentioned above; teamwork seems to be a crucial keyword here, which is really good.
When you typed the answer and it was "wrong", what message did you receive? Did it tell you "wrong code" or something along the lines of a communication error with the server? The first one shouldn't happen, the second one happened to me twice and I overlooked the different error messages.
I know I have heard before from you all that you can't easily test your missions for difficulty, frustration, etc. So I wanted to put in here that I have split each mission up from my live stream up into individual highlights like last time. I doubt I am the norm, and I obviously get to bounce ideas off of chat some, but I hope this helps seeing the process some. Mission 7 Mission 8 Mission 9 Mission 10 Mission 11 My thoughts: I found the missions overall enjoyable. I did not feel cheated or annoyed by anything that I can remember, and if I did...then solving it alleviated all of that. I do want to mention on thing for you all to keep in mind. The process, discovery, and brain busting though processes are what makes the whole experience exciting above all. I think it is fine to sometimes have the mission directive be a bit misleading or broad, but that should be on the rare occasion. It is everything between reading the mission objective and completing it that creates the truly unique experience. I just wanted to put that out there, not because I think you failed at that...my stream is obvious you did not...just want you to keep it in mind that the mission objective itself should not be the literal puzzle to break apart and solve.
I received the "wrong code" message twice, and then at another time the submission click wouldn't even register. It just kept the "wrong code" message up from an earlier, different attempt.
The missions had a decent writing, a very good use of avaliable tech and a slowly developing plot, more characters and corporations. All of this make a nice base for the further storyline since we're likely to see those names back. Things are more exciting than ever and we're half the season, that's great. I just wish i had more opportunities to interact with players, guess that's mostly for live missions. Want more adrenaline here please !
Personally I am finding the missions a little too tough. Having said that I am enjoying the story and as mentioned a few times above the team work with other agents has made the game for me.
I enjoyed the new missions, especially 11. It felt fairly organic and fit together well. I definitely feel things are headed in a good direction there. However, I feel vagueness is often adding difficulty, rather than the actual missions. The mission I spent the most time on from the second batch was 7.1, and that was just straight riddle solving. I am hoping that once the early missions have introduced a broad skill set, the later missions can be more explicit in what they are looking for and let the mystery be in the journey.
100% agree. I thought 7 was a very poor mission indeed. Spoiler Mission 7.1.1 was fantastic, loved the 6 six digit code. Mission 7.1 was unclear about what was needed and you literally had to pick out a word spoken from the conversation, not sure why the agency would need you to review a conversation where the answer would be so obvious Mission 7.2 was the worst. A convoluted set of English military defeats and victories to describe the state of a substance? I dont even understand why this email would be sent in this format? Am I missing something.
Spoiler I disagree about the phone call. The mission clearly asks about the subject of the experiments and he says it. I also don't think you made the connection between the type of battle and location to substance. It was a rather clever way of noting success and failures.[/spoilers]
Personally, I never actually figured out the correct way to do Mission 7.2. Spoiler: My Solution All I did was take the question itself literally. Managed to get the right one on the first try. I really should go back and try again sometime.
