Music For Black Watchmen-ing

    Hello, mandrakes!

As you may or may not know, I do music things. I'm a musician, and I also happen to enjoy listening to music. So I have a fun question; what music, if any, do you like to listen to when doing the Black Watchmen stuff? What music do you think fits the ARG's themes? If you had to compile a soundtrack for TBW, what would it have in it?

Now, this is where a competent person would write up their own opinion. But because I am not such a person, I'm gonna wait a bit and think on my own question before I answer it. Hope to hear what you guys have to say. ;)

During creepy missions and ARGs I find that chiasm songs make things even scarier.

I don't really have any music that really fits the Black Watchmen for now. ;)

I listen to pretty much anything from J-pop to heavy metal...
So I listen to whatever there's at that moment ^^"

Chiasm? I had not heard of this until right now, that you mentioned it. I just gave it an extensive listen and I have to say this is great! I completely agree about it being cool for a creepy ambiance - this is generally true with dark, industrial stuff. :)

I found Chiasm because of Isolated, which was featured in Vampires the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Some really creepy and some really good songs in there. :)

Really sweet stuff! Makes me think of Interlace and some of the stuff from the Broken Notes albums.

I actually hadn't heard from Interlace, but I think they also have a lot of great and atmospheric songs. I have also been listening to "Monster" and "Demons" by Imagine Dragons a lot lately as well.

When I really want to get creative, I need something with really deep prominent bass - Radioactive: Imagine Dragons, Royals: Lorde
    Radioactive Man
    M|O|O|N

That's a great song. I also noticed that I wrote "Amazing Dragons" instead of Imagine Dragons in my previous post. Akward....

Just a little old-fashioned. Trance/rave/goa genre keeps the brain juices flowing without distracting too much from the important work.

I so very rarely listen to music that I have trouble saying "this is definately what I'd be listening to".

However, when acuity is an issue, I usually stick to music without lyrics.
For the moment being, I mainly listen to various tracks from Touhou Project (House set of Subterranean Animism, mainly), as well as the Celestian Clays who also do tracks for Touhou Project. Beyond that, I also find myself listening to tracks from, among others, Nephew, Amaranthe, Turisas, and Portishead, but primarily when I don't need all of those wonderful little cells firing at full capacity. (however limited that capacity may be to begin with).

Lykke Li is really good. I thought about adding "Get Some" to my list when I wrote it, but didn't think it felt right. Glad to see her make an appearance though!

Again, love both of those songs Vis. Might I suggest Tools cover of No Quarter?

All really sweet stuff! I'm a big fan of Scandinavian music, so Lykke Li is a personal favorite. Whenever I hear Sail, I am reminded of that amazing video by Nanalew. That cover of The Immigrant Song by Trent Reznor is ultra fun, too! And I'm always tickled to see Sigur Ros mentioned anywhere. Tool is also amazing for me when I want "closed eyes" music, if that makes sense. Santi's picks are also great. Man, you guys have some nice picks!

Myself, I'm very eclectic when it comes to music. However, for TBW, I generally also get the electronic-industrial vibe from it. My playlist would definitely have some Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, some sweet And One, Rotersand, Zeromancer, among many mentioned in this thread. Then I'd totally have some odd-balls thrown in, haha. I'm a big fan of Steven Wilson, so I'm sure something of his would probably sneak in somewhere. As I said, I'm a big Scandinavian fan, so some subgud and some Björk are always welcome. I'd put in some Tool and Placebo and even some Deftones in there.

I feel there's a global aspect to TBW, so I'd likely want to incorporate music from all around the world. But of course, the major lynch-pin here would be to flick the electricity switch and turn on the dark. ;)

Any other opinions? I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. :)

I haven't listened to Zeromancer in years, very nice. Follow that up with Stabbing Westward - excellent combo. I'd add the Chrono Trigger soundtrack to my list (specifically Black Omen, which is perhaps the best piece of music from any video game, ever).

^.^ if you can't tell by now, I'm a bit of a music junky... I always have to have something playing, unless I'm watching TV. This is a thread I'll be replying to often.

I ran across this earlier: http://www.reddit.com/user/irpwnu2/m/beats It has some pretty decent stuff on it.

Also, weird bar scenes can include some (Son of Sam).
Club scenes to apprehend culprit could involve some (Last Firstborn)

There's a lot of fun we can have.

I also like the goa trance, and the darker industrial stuff for when I'm working on something (be it writing, or coding/scripting, or trying to solve some damn puzzle :p). Need some Front Line Assembly in here. Also Juno Reactor. And for something a bit happier, VNV Nation.
In other genres, I have a soft spot for the melodic side of doom metal like Katatonia, The Foreshadowing, Novembre...
I'll have to check out some of the suggestions other people have put here too...
