I know many of you had problem with your sign-up credential since we used PlayFab and you may actually have a PlayFab account without knowing it. (If you played Loadout for example) Since we will provide you with a function to delete your account, you can imagine we don't want to delete all your games with PlayFab. They are aware of the issue and are working with us to solved this.
We had a talk with PlayFab team and they where quite friendly and helpfull. We have two options. Option 1 is our own PlayFab login server. I'm waiting for the price but it's solved the log-in issue since it will be our own server. (No username taken, no email issue) Option 2 is to use Playfab but used the field 'display name' for the agent, so you can have a username / password that is different from your actual agent name. In that option, if you already have a playfab account, you need to use it to log-in to The BlackWatchmen. This one is the same pricing we see on their website. ($0.006/DAU - First 1k DAU free) We are waiting for the option 1 pricing since it's the most appealing for us.
Nice. But, what is DAU? In Germany it's an abbreviation for "Dümmster anzunehmender User", that's what a PEBCAC is in your language, i think
@Zargh : DAU means Daily Active Users, it's the number of unique user that use a provided service a day. cf: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_active_users
User entries in the local DB would still need to be associated with PlayFab accounts to make use of it, so it doesn't really solve the problem, so much as relocate it ... But, along similar lines, I'd been wondering whether would it be possible to do something like creating a UUID for users and then use that to transparently create a PlayFab account. It would mean that A&S would necessarily have to act as an intermediary for things like account recovery though, which is awkward, and I don't know how much else it would get in the way of (or if it would somehow violate the license/TOS). Even if it's viable, it's probably not worth the headache if Option 1 is reasonably priced, since it's basically a hacky way of accomplishing the same thing. -Bats
When I registered for the first Alpha, I wasn't sure what to do. So I created a new account. Then when I wanted to try the 2nd alpha... I had forgotten the password. I then found that there was no recovery possible on the playfab site. I found one, but that was for the developers accounts. So... I tried any how and it worked, I did get a mail with a reset link. And also the account name, which turned out to be tbwvorticity, though I registered vorticity. On the playfab site I can login using tbwvorticity, in the Alpha using just vorticity. I guess I stil don't know what to do
Hi Vorticity! Yes, that process is a little mess up. We currently used TBW in front of the username for the test so we can easly wipe the account later when we go with the real beta. I should have added that items in the Bug list, sorry.
