How Did You Come Up With Your Character Concept?

    More curiosity than anything else.
Here is how Artos came to be...I developed him way back during the pre-launch ARG's for TSW. He was supposed to be my original character but decided to go another route at launch. I brought him back for TBW. Here is the original concept image I tossed together and Nathaniel "Artos" Kane was born. I created the story based on this image.

How I came up with Vismal, versus what is Vismal now are 2 different and separate things. Vismal...is a handle name I use in a lot of things, originally a character from D&D. Concept was...weird...and the character was weird too. It stuck. I kept it.
I haven't used 'Vismal" in TSW however...to stay covert.
TBW is another thing entirely, as it's back to a handle name.

Thatangryviking - as a handle - I use basically everywhere, it was an easy choice, my family history was traced back to the viking days, so it seemed like a fitting handle.

  4. Rowyne

    Rowyne Division-79

Rowyne. She has been a long journey. The name goes back to the late 70's when she made her first appearance as an elf in tabletop D&D. (And as I am asked very frequently, it is pronounced as ROW-inn - a bit like the tree).

She has rather grown up with me. Gone through her awkward stages when she just wasn't really an elf anymore. Stretched with me when we were collectively flung into the computer age. She is now emerging into a wondrous personality shaped by all the magic and imagination that a lifetime of gaming has offered. And sitting here talking about her I am startled by how much we are the same and yet so different.

I am naturally on the shy side and she has evolved into a reclusive shut in that views the world through the security of computers. Like myself she values loyalty and expects much from those closest to her. Like me she values learning and gaining as much knowledge as possible. Unlike me she may quite well be a conspiracy theorist. When I jumped into the TBW I decided to take the awkward elf of the past and bring her to her full glory as the agent that knows what lurks, dreads what is coming and is forever looking over her shoulder. I am excited to see what rare butterfly the once awkward elf emerges into. I know the magic that is there. Been her a hundred times, in a hundred skins and in a hundred worlds.

But this time its me behind her eyes. In this world. In this time. And quite frankly it both scares and excites me! And it is one hell of a feeling!

The handle "riningear" is attached to me almost anywhere.

Except The Secret World, actually. I chose to roleplay instead, and so I go by a different username there, as well as on sites with accounts linked to the character.

With that said, I'm considering pulling in a new OC, a sister of aforementioned TSW RPC, if and when I get formally involved with The Black Watchmen. I mean, it's basically an MMO-RP-ARG, right? Hehe. I'll figure out those details later, though.

  6. Zerosh

    Zerosh Sleeper Agent

    Long story short:
Xellos + Zero + a little bit of my personality = Zerosh
Basically I took two of my favorite characters and created my alter-ego from there :p
The pronunciation is something like zero in japanese https://translate.google.com/#ja/en/ゼロ plus the final sh (the h can be muted)

Catalyst was originally the operative name of a ultimately-villainous character that I drafted for a story. My girlfriend suggested that it is a cool nickname, and started addressing me as Catalyst online. So now it's my operative name. I leave no comment for what that says of me.

  8. Sonne

    Sonne Division-79

Back in the age of tabletop games, before there were electrons that would do our bidding, I created a personality of oppressed background who had robust health and a desire to always do what was right and to help those who needed to make things right. His name then was Sonny.

As I played different personalities in those RP games I realized some of their attributes were bleeding through into my reality persona. I stopped playing the evil ones. Of the rest, I liked Sonny the best. Naturally when graphic MMORPG happened he became more real, he became smarter and more thoughtful - he became attributes I want to emulate in real life. But for reasons of the worlds he lived in his name became Sonne, germanizing his name and also a reference to that bright star in the sky.

Circumstance forced another name change. Pono, the pacific islander word for Righteous and Mo for More of It. Later, I found out that his name (coincidentally?) also means "possible recurrence" as slovenians would say it..

MoPono continues as part of me, as somebody I turn to when I need inspiration. "What would MoPono do?"

    Excellent stories all.
I should have expanded a bit on the handle as well as the character too. Artos has been with me for as long as I have been online. This was my handle in middle school when we used to sneak into my friend's father's home office and use his computer to get on the old school BBS's and chat. Since then, Artos has had many incarnations from tabletop D&D to almost every single online game I've played over the years as my main character. I'm really looking forward to playing him here with all of you.

    Leon-Loire Senior Agent

Leon-Loire is the Leonhart Loire's code name. "Leonhart" and "Loire" are come from Final Fantasy VIII as you have guessed ^^.
Leonhart Loire is the first character I made for D&D 15 years ago. And now is my TSW character.

I didn't. I'm my own character, just under an alias.

  12. Grim-Angel53

    Grim-Angel53 Senior Agent

My handle is attached to me in most places. I ran in the Gate 33 ARG, and came to like it.

My character concept is made of more than a few pieces of personalities that I've emulated over the years. So I've come to include Grim as one of those Characters. He's mostly pieced out of my TSW place, seeing as I believe him to have gone through the Gate incident and stumbled again into the Situation Room, somehow coming into the ability to use Anima himself through this. His abilities with Anima allow him to plan and simulate the needed scenarios, while also giving him a better chance at being an effective agent.

Thus, he's excited about the new missions, and will do what he can to think up the number of possibilities that could happen happen during the different scenarios. My character is Me, though in a new World, full of Darkness and Light. He'll be fun to play in this whole Game. If we may call it a Game.

    have fun!

  13. Gr3ylok

    Gr3ylok Senior Agent

I go by many handles which are not to be shared, that said I got banned/locked on a certain place.
The reason for the ban was that I sold "greymarket goods" Grey + locked became Gr3ylok.

  14. TheChosenOne

    TheChosenOne Active Agent

Jimmy "TheChosenOne" Freeman has been reinvented several times over the years. His current personality is pretty much the result of the Keepers ARG we did with Sanctuary. I finally got to do a bit more RP again and there were some things I wanted to change (because I had obviously changed myself). ;)
