Greetings hackers! Now that people have had a chance to playthrough the entire alpha, we would love to hear your feedback on what new things you would like to see added to the game. These suggestions could be for new mechanics, story ideas or gameplay improvements. Basically, what would you love to see in future versions of NITE Team 4? You can leave your comments in this thread. We would also like to thank everyone for giving such detailed and constructive feedback for the alpha. We're hard at work squashing bugs and adding in fixes! EDIT: We now have a formal survey for leaving feedback, you can find it here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/niteteam4-feedback-survey
Going to cross-post my thread in here as it's mostly a feature suggestion: http://forums.blackwatchmen.com/index.php?threads/feedback.1389/ Basically, an in-game manual as well as highlights of 'key concepts' for new missions (or at least missions where new concepts would be introduced).
A little tutorial would indeed be great (as a manual or a short video). Even with prior programming knowledge I felt a little bit lost because Linux commands are new to me.
I'm kind of torn on how I feel about this ... I mean, on one hand I completely agree with that feeling of being lost - when I jumped in and was presented with the first of the training missions I did have a kind of, "well.. wtf am I supposed to do?" moment. On the other hand, however, poking around the system and reading through help files turned out to be very exciting (for me .. not everyone's cup-of-tea though), and when I did figure out how to do what I needed to do, I felt super accomplished and proud of myself So I guess maybe (in terms of actual feedback) if you wanted to preserve that layer of vagueness as a "feature" you might want to communicate that in some way - preferably in-character: "even though this is a tutorial to get you used to our systems, we're not holding your hand. Your ability to figure out what tools are available, and how well you adapt to their syntax, are part of the vetting process. good luck." Just a thought - Knowing that I'm going to be lost and will need to feel around isn't so bad. It was that empty, "what now?", feeling that wasn't great.
I also had no clue what to do and to be honest it was both frustrating in a way and fun as it really gave the that feeling back of being behind DOS on my C64 a long long time ago.... So I am typing 'dir' all the time when I need to type 'ls'
Hiyas - i'm a very casual gamer - I squeeze in 10 minutes here or half an hour there around parenting, work, etc. It's happened a couple of times that I've had to log off mid-mission, losing chunks of work that's been annoying to go through again (admittedly this was in the days of port-scanning, so there was extra work there). I'd love an option to save the workspace when loggin out... Although that may detract from the authenticity... But still...
