I already stated this in the survey but I'd like to know how other players feel about it. I really think this is a bad idea. I have a young kid, which means that I must not go to sleep too late, even if I don't work the next day. On week-ends and holidays, the kid's nap in the afternoon is my best spot for gaming. Not allowing to play by daytime would thus strip me of most of my playing time. I'm curious of how this would be implemented, by the way. Would the time be taken from the player's computer or from a server? If a time server id used, would the player's timezone be taken into account (I live in France)? Would the actual nightfall time for the place he lives be used (this may be difficult for people who play from Iceland...)? Anyway, I feel that this feature would probably turn away some people from the game, which would be a shame. I, personally, would try to cheat the mecanism to get to play by daytime. If I do not manage to do this, I'll probably connect briefly in the evening to answer the puzzles and make screenshots of the next ones to do research by daytime. I understand that this is meant to give a feeling of dreaming by night/doing research by day, but I think that this will end up making the gaming experience somewhat lousy. People like me would not be able to play as much as they want (need to wait the evening to see the next puzzle), and people who work by night, for instance, may not be able to play at all. So, I think leaving the checkbox that allows to disable that feature in the final version would be a very, very good idea. I'd really like to know what other players think about this.
Ok. Thanks. Maybe the Steam Store page should be updated, then. It does still state this about the early acces (emphasis is mine):
Hi! Good point, i'll will update it. During the Early Access you can override it in the general setting. After the early access we will move the features in "Start a new game" where you can choose your difficulty level, including playing only at night.
