Greets, New agent here with full game from the Nite Core 4 KS and unable to register. I have disabled my AV (Kaspersky), blocklists (PeerBlock) as well VPN in router (for entire LAN anon) and I still cannot seem to get the register to properly take. Enter details, including a normal name and email without special characters (US-EN, @gmail.com email) and the 'Connecting..' voice and spinning triangle display for X mins; then comes back. No error or anything in logs to indicate an issue. I have even tried to sniff the network to find the remote site it's going to to see if for some reason I'm blocking it but I've not gotten that far. Figured I saw several threads with the same issue and admin's seemed to easily get others connected. So I post here asking the same. Thanks! ~Ictinike
Some basic troubleshooting... Have you restarted Steam? Do you have any emails from The Black Watchmen in the email account you used to sign up? Did you ever register for the long-ago Black Watchmen beta/alpha version?
Not that I am aware of. I have no emails nor do I think I signed up at a prior time. It's possible I guess but I store all my online passwords in a 2FA App and I have no record of hitting the domain.
Thank you for the name change! I've still not been able to connect. I'm going to try and setup something to test again today/this evening. If someone knows the site to directs to in the game for registration and could PM me those details; it would save me time sniffing with WireShark to find it. My guess is something's not making it through and I am still unsure if it's my system or home LAN (which, not going to lie; is pretty heavily fortified (lol)) Thanks! ~Ictinike
Found some info out.. Seems I cannot reach http://db8e.playfabapi.com:8118/ which may be part of the issue. I am able to connect to the other sites it's using for HTTP and TLS (I can provide those but for the uninitiated; why give reason to mess) Slowly narrowing it down. I also employ Privoxy ads/malware proxy suite on my router which may be blocking the remote calls. I will add exclusions into the proxy to circumvent around and see if that helps. More as I have it..
That's what it was, Privoxy proxy. I added an exception for the playfabapi.com domain it was trying to reach and I created an account INSTANTLY. Packetsniffing to the rescue! Case closed.
