Hey folks, I know some of you have dived into No Man's Sky (NMS) like myself. So thought I'd try to regail you a bit with what I've been up to so far. First and foremost, I decided to look for a suitable system - old habit of mine from EVE Online. Found a dead-end system, but after zipping around it for a bit, I discovered I needed an upgraded Warp engine to reach it, even from the nearest star. So, I decided that, while I work on that, why not set up a border-system for it? I give you, the "Black Watchmen Fringe System", found in the Euclid Galaxy: A 4 planet system + 1 moon, but rather hostile - couldn't FTL between planets without getting intercepted :X For reference: Venice (Planet): - Mild Weather - Resource rich - Hostile sentinels - Devoid of fauna and flora Phoenicia (Moon to Venice - overview says Planet, but states it's a Moon when landing on it): - Wet weather - Abundant in resources - Some fauna and flora Illuminati (Planet): - Desolate planet - Resource rich - Some fauna, limited flora Templar (Planet): - Smouldering planet - Some resources - Few fauna and flora Dragon (Planet): - Radioactive planet - Average resources - Limited fauna, rich in flora I believe the system I'm headed for ("Black Watchmen Prime System"?) has 6 planets, but will have to check, in any case, I've already earmarked a few of names: Gladys, Scruffy, Msika, Middipper. So if you manage to find your way there, you're more than welcome, albeit I don't know if the names actually become universal (ba-dum tish), but just in case
The game is great. I am enjoying it immensely. And to the people who read bad reviews, I am personally getting 155 FPS, and have 0 lag. I am uploading a gameplay vid now.,
Thanks for your help Cronkllr, my game performance has improved by altering the settings by trial and error. (Annoyingly must reset after each change) My framerate is still jumping around all over the place, but at least it is playable. Hopefully there will be an optimised patch soon!
Likewise, stable at max FPS with the exception of occasional dips - turning off gsync didn't help much (GTX 1080, i7-2600K base clock), but I read they're doing some needed CPU optimization, so hopefully that'll help - even at the lowest drawing distances I get drops, and I don't think my CPU is too old to be able to keep up - would be a first. Here's hoping. ;s Meanwhile, scoured two planets looking for a blasted Tau level warp core or better. *shakes fist* On the upside, I identified all life in the TBW fringe system.
Hehe, great suggestion - will do ^^ On a sidenote, did you know that the aliens from "Mars Attacks!" actually originated on Illuminati? Have photographic evidence:
Finally, getting and building the Tau level Hyper Drive Core proved more time consuming than I anticipated. :S But may I present, "Black Watchmen Prime": Grisha (Dead Planet): - No atmosphere - Average resources - Undetected flora and fauna Gladys (Planet): - Wet atmosphere - High amount of resources - Abundant flora, some fauna MidDipper (Planet): - Atmosphere.. <cue Jon Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory> .. Burning - Abundant resources - Little flora and fauna Scruffy (Moon to MidDipper): - Atmosphere.. <cue a slightly more strained Jon Bon Jovi>.. Baked - Some resources - Little flora, some fauna
