For the past couple of months, I've been investigating the so-called "Ingress Conflict" (as I like to call it). Apparently, a mysterious energy known as "Exotic Matter", or XM, has been leaking into our dimension via portals that manifest themselves at certain structures. An online app, called Ingress, can convert a smartphone into a type of scanner that can help locate these portals. While the exact nature of this energy is unknown, a couple of things have been confirmed. 1. The energy appears to have some influence over human thoughts. This is made apparent in the nature that these portals manifest themselves. I have detected portals at or near sculptures or other structures (such as buildings at my college, fountains, and even the post office). These structures represent certain ideals, or are based off of designs seeded within the human mind. Most of these structures emit a certain energy that attracts people or events. 2. The Exotic Matter comes from another dimension. These portals that are leaking XM into our world come from a dimension inhabited by beings known as "Shapers". While the nature and motives of these beings remain unclear, they remain the center of a conflict that has been waged in the shadows for about 3 years. Two factions appear to be fighting for control of these portals. On one hand, the Enlightened. This group appears to embrace these so-called "Shapers" and want to empower the portals to lead mankind to a new future. On the other hand, the Resistance. This group appears to see the Shapers and the effects of the Exotic Matter as dangerous, and wish to suppress the effects of the portals until we can better understand them. In order to better understand these portals, as well as monitor the conflict, I have infiltrated the ranks of the Resistance. To my knowledge, no one within the Resistance (outside of the Agency) is aware of my affiliation with The Black Watchmen. I have noticed that there appears to be some conflict within the Resistance, particularly regarding the ideals of the group. From what I can tell, there seems to be some kind of shift within the core ideals of the group. This seems to have occurred after the involvement of something known as the Nazeer. While the conflict between (and possibly within) the two groups may be of some interest to us, I believe these portals may be of greater concern. While these anomalies may be subtle in comparison to the rifts that the Agency has dealt with in the past, their ability to affect the mind is concerning. Both organizations have found ways to harness the powers of the portals to different effects. By using devices called resonators, they can control the portals themselves. By fully charging a portal with resonators, they can create links between portals. By linking 3 portals together, a control field is created. The exact effects of these control fields are unknown. However, it is highly likely that the effects of the different control fields resonate with the goals of the Enlightened or Resistance. The question is: what are the long term effects of Exotic Matter on the human mind? If left unchecked, will the efforts of the Enlightened snowball into an event that will put humanity at risk? Given how the goals of the Resistance coincide with those of the Agency (in the matter of containing and studying that which humanity doesn't understand), I recommend any available agents quietly assist the Resistance and report their findings to the Agency. It may also help to have a few agents infiltrate the Enlightened. This way we may be able to better understand the conflict as a whole, and how it may affect us or humanity. It may also be possible to manipulate certain events to our favor if necessary. I will continue to monitor and assist the Resistance where I can. But ultimately, the goals of The Black Watchmen come first. - Agent Lone Wolf
my friend, im sorry to hear that youve been mislead by those fearmongers; the discovery of this exotic matter and its effects on the human mind are the most important findings in human history and though these "shapers" might be an unknown threat, we shouldnt let our judgement be clouded by fear for the not yet understood...
Ah, I take it that you are part of the Enlightened then? This is good. This means it is possible for us to monitor the conflict on both sides. We may be able to better understand how both the Resistance and Enlightened plan to use the portals. As to your remark, keep in mind I do not consider myself a full-time Resistance agent. As a Black Watchmen spy, I am mainly here to monitor the conflict and see if these portals are in any way related to the rifts we deal with. And I am ready to take action if the need arises, whether that be to help the Resistance, or sabotage it. My loyalty is to the Agency. That being said, perhaps you can fill us in on the Enlightened?

well im actually a retired agent, so im not sure what exactly is happening right now. and regarding rifts and anomolies; i believe there was a rift event and an anomoly in london; though im not sure if those were around the same time...
I believe the anomaly you're talking about occurred on September 24th of 2014. When did the rift event take place? Also, do you know what were the effects surrounding the anomaly and rift event? We may have to do some digging into a certain something called "Helios".
