Having recently bought the first season and loving it (I'm halfway through) would I need to finish it completely to understand season 2 story/skill wise? Because season 1 was already finished when I bought it I was looking forward to collaborating and the live missions come season 2, now I'm worried I'll miss some of the live stuff if I don't finish season 1 soon. Is this something I need to worry about or will the season 2 missions be fairly spread out so I can catch up?
The Season 2 missions will be released every 2 weeks or so. They'll be fairly spread out. I wouldn't say it's important you finish Season 1 before starting 2, especially because it's just training missions at the moment. Although I would advise you try to finish it before you do the main missions as the storyline is said to continue from the end of the first season.
It's important to mention that we will be close during Christmas, so that should give you time to catch up.
Apparently, from one of the AMAs, you don't really have to worry. You can switch any time between Season 1 and Season 2. Also, the story of Season 2 does continue after Season 1, BUT it doesn't need Season 1 to be completed to get the gist of it. It has references to the first one, but it doesn't exactly need you to fully complete it to understand it, although it can help! Enjoy your time in The Black Watchmen! My face when Season 2 came out:
Great news. Thanks for all the replies. I guess I can finish season 1 before christmas (hopefully!) and by then TBW should be on Steam's sale, so I can get it then. Awesome.
As Kakuzen mentions, Season 2 doesn't require that you've played Season 1, neither in terms of following the narrative, nor in terms of skill-level/difficulty. So it's not a case of "End of Season 1 difficulty = Start of Season 2 difficulty". You can see the AMA where the question is answered here, under "How much of an influence will Season 1 be on Season 2, or will Season 2 be an entirely new storyline?". As for Live-Missions, I can't imagine it would be filled with references to previous events, at the least not to such an extent that you'll be entirely lost as to what's going on, and why it's going on. Of course, that's just my ruminations on the matter - nothing I can say with certainty. It's also worth noting that Season 2 is already 10% off, and I'm not sure how much of a discount the Christmas sale would bring with it, but I doubt it'd be much more than that. In my personal opinion, I would perhaps consider buying it sooner rather than later, considering it's already on sale, and that a Live-Mission may (don't quote me on that) happen before Christmas - or at the least buy it before the 10th of December, when the current offer expires. If you're interested in keeping up with the narrative, I'd say it'd be more important to tag along on the first Live-Mission of Season 2, than it would be to have completed Season 1 beforehand.
Yeah, as Santiak says, the Live Missions are really the meat of the story. Those are the things we joined to experience. The client missions are fun, but the REAL fun starts as soon as you get that cryptic e-mail
