Heyho folks, Thought that, with all the new wonderful Agents we're seeing, we'd best set up a thread with the issue they might encounter when trying to use the client - I'll try to update the thread as new issues are identified, and when work-arounds are found, or when issues are fixed. Mail-address already in use: Causes: The client uses PlayFab for it's login system, but for the moment being, PlayFab does not distinguish between your TBW related account, and any other given PlayFab account you may have. This means that you may have already registered your email address with PlayFab via another game (such as Planetary Annihilation or Loadout, or one of the many mobile games that also uses the service). Unfortunately, any pre-existing account will not work with the TBW client. Workaround: Try using an alternate email address to register your TBW account. Log in to PlayFab with your pre-existing account (if you know the details), and change the email address associated with that Account. This should free up that email for your TBW account. Note: You'll have to log in via the support login, not the Developer login (check the URL to see which you are attempting) Prognosis: The issue is currently being worked on by A&S and PlayFab, and solution should be available at some point in the future. Class and Clearence Level selection: Causes: Currently, Class and Clearence Level are assigned automatically, and are the same for all Agents. It does, however, not impact your gameplay at the current stage, and you'll likely be informed when selecting either becomes relevant to testing. Note: The Clearence Levels on forums (Account Upgrades) are unrelated to the in-game client - the ones related to forums only gives access to other sections of the forums (i.e. Gold Membership -> Gold Members section). Client hangs on loading when attempting to register: Causes: Unkown Workarounnd: Check that you are using the latest version of the client (currently 2.0.7). Try restarting your computer, this has usually been reported as solving the issue. Can't disable sound effects/music: This option is currently unavailable, but should be fixed in a later build. I'm on a Mac and Can't login: This is caused by a bug in Unity 5 in relation to Mac; pressing Enter produces an input rather than an execute command. Workaround: Click "Submit" instead of pressing Enter. I downloaded the client but can't find it: It is likely that the download is located in your browsers default download folder. If you've not designated one yourself, this should - in most cases - be: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\<Username>\Documents\Downloads Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8: \Users\<Username>\Downloads Mac: /Users/<Username>/Downloads Linux: home\<Username>\Downloads Alternatively, you might have chosen to "Download and Run", in which case it will likely be in your Temp folder, usually located at: \Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Temp Alternatively, opening your browsers Download history, you should be able to open the files Destination folder - for example in Firefox, if you click the folder icon to the right of the filename it will bring you to the destination folder, if the file is still there. My issue isn't listed: I've likely missed something, so if you encounter any issue not listed here, please post to this thread, and we (the community at large), will help you solve it. I will, of course, then add the issue - and workaround, if any - to the list above.
Incorrect location on map I mentioned this to Anashel in IRC, but I bring it up here so anyone else can speak up if they experienced anything contrary. He said no one else reported it so far, but I may be the only weird one trying to connect from multiple locations. I noticed beginning with the 2.0.7 alpha client my location on the map puts me somewhere in Washington state every time I log in instead of in the middle of Texas where I am, and where I showed up in all the previous client maps. This happens now even when I connect through different VPN connections or from different physical systems or from VMs in distant locations. This has no adverse impact on the client that I can tell. It is just an annoyance at this point. Suspected cause Since some information has been reset each time a new client was released I suspect that player location was among this info. If my memory is correct, I launched the 2.0.7 client for the first time on an AWS VM in the us-west data center. It seems that information was recorded in a sticky setting that ignores my actual current network location on subsequent logons. Plan for testing The next time a client is released and settings cleared I will first launch a VPN connection that will give me an IP number outside of the US before launching it. I'll report back if my location changes to that new one in the client map and remains so even on subsequent non-VPN logons. I'll regard that as confirmation of a sticky setting.
I will reset the location for the Beta 3.0 so we can test it. Once your location has been register, we don't register it again so your theory sound right.
As an agent whom will be moving from NY to NC, I would request a way to trigger an update for the location.
So I created a VPN connection that gave me an IP address associated with Toronto. As expected, when I launched the beta client for the first time that's where I showed up. On subsequent logins even without VPN I still show up there. I guess I am permanently Canadian, at least until the next refresh.
