GUYS. This looks right up our alley. book series, with puzzles within the book, leading to a prize. ARG and augmented reality games included. I'm gonna hop in and play. Hopefully, it'll go well. HERE is where to start!
To clarify, the site you linked to is NOT the book. The book puzzle and prize has turned into... Let's just say they could have handled it a LOT better. The one you linked to is completely different, run by Niantic (makers of Ingress) and is TOTALLY AWESOME. Incredible involvement with the community, with a message I very strongly believe in. They've somehow managed part game and part "make the world a better place," which... I can't even express how impressed I am with that. (As opposed to the book, which is about wiping out humanity.) It's still very very new, but so far I think it's an amazing example of an ARG done right. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it! (I'm Cherie Brush on there, you'll see me commenting everywhere. )
Article on ARGNet today about EndGame http://www.argn.com/ It looks interesting, provided I don't have to be immersed in a social agenda.
True. though the Ancient Societies ARG, the one i was referring to originally, looks rather interesting.
I'm doing it, more or less. I've been involved with it for a while. I agree with Cherie-they could have handled the book puzzle/prize a ton better. I'm no code breaker but i'm sticking around in case something happens.
I quote Pink Floyd almost as much as I tie things to Lovecraft. Did it again today, actually. (Quoted Pink Floyd, not tied something to Lovecraft. Yet.*) * While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime
I wrote an intro to the Mu bloodline and mentioned in a comment that some believe R'lyeh to be part of the sunken continent. That fulfills my quota for the next day or so. ;-)
I'm going Nabatean myself. Surprisingly, my family blood leans more to the Aksumite but I can dig the Nabatean ideology.
