Hi all. Just having some questions: 1. How to pm someone? I don't see this button anywhere...is this the "Start a conversation" thing maybe? 2. Is it possible to get a "New Posts" link on the bottom of the page? It's a bit annoying to first move to "Top" then press "New Posts"... 3. Is it possible to have some info about what thread you are in atm? There is only a line saying in which subforum you are...for example herein it says Home>Forums>The Black Watchmen ARG>Technical Support, but not the thread title "Forum-issues-eccentricities"...ok, you have it in your browser line, but that is a bit difficult to find...
Excellent suggestions. In regards to #1: Yes, "Start a Conversation" is for all intents and purposes the same as sending a PM
Yep, same thing. I agree completely... but then, I would - this was one of the issues I opened the thread with -Bats
Bats wrote: Ok hun, u got me...but, maybe this counts as a little excusion: it was at the FIRST page of this fred Oh, and to critisize even a bit more: what is this for a strange quote mode? No chance to quote a reply directly? Or maybe i am too dumb...
Using the "Reply" button in the bottom right-hand corner of each message (next to "Like", which is designed to be clicked whenever you see me post something. especially something offensive, unpleasant, or generally distasteful.) will quote it into the text box with attribution and link, which is probably what you're looking for... But it only works well for replying to a single post. Trying to get it to quote multiple posts has results that're unpredictable at best. I definitely wouldn't recommend hitting "Reply" once you've already started typing, either... it will sometimes add the quoted text of the message to what you're working on, and other times will wipe everything out and replace it. -Bats
While Bats explained it well, you can quote multiple posts by clicking the reply button sequentially, rather than attempting to reply to all posts first, and then arranging them afterwards. After you've replied to the first post, you click the "Reply" button on the next post you want to respond to, and it should automatically apply it to the next line, even if you are mid-sentence: I haven't really had an issue with the feature - mind elaborating on some of the unpredictable results you've experienced, Bats?
I had trouble accessing the forums on mobile (a samsung s3 with the browser that came pre-installed): The entire page blinks while scrolling, leaving only the background image visible. This happens both in horizontal and vertical screen orientation. I haven't seen this on any other message board.
Well, I have a bunch of Androids devices, including the S3, here in the lab; so I could help with replicating the issue or stuff if that's needed eventually.
After writing the summary for our kickstarter mission i would like to point out that the limit of only 2 images per post is extremely infuriating... Is there any way we can increase that number please?
Yes, please! A lot of people have talked about a desire for mission threads with an updated first post covering all the details and developments, but that's difficult to maintain on any mission with more than a couple visual elements. Currently it would require either a locked/moderated thread for updates, or for the OP to tack on a bunch of "Reserved for future content" posts when they start a new mission thread, just in case there are images. On a related note, is there any way of getting the ability to resize and/or thumbnail images in posts? With the current system, the only options are to include a picture at the full original size, or download, edit, and re-upload the image before including it. Even a gmail-style "small/medium/original" option would help, to avoid overwhelming readers with huge blowups of things that just really don't need that much detail. -Bats
Not really a forums issue as such - nor anything of great consequence - but thought I'd post it here just to have all the "suggested improvements" in one place: It might be beneficial to have a more salient indication of when threads are stickied - and perhaps even when a Staff member have replied to a given thread. Makes things a bit neater, especially if there's multiple stickied threads. For example: Dev Responses alter the background of that thread in the thread list to the same as seen on Staff members' posts. Likewise, stickied threads have the secondary color of the theme as a background (i.e. Dev Response and Stickied Thread)
