2.4 (This is purely my train of thoughts, it seems kinda weird, but if it can help people until someone writes a better one !)
The way Dr. Johnson heals his patients resembles an old practice
We can say he "lays" his hands on people to heal them
A certain king did that too ... but with an artefact

2.1 really took me way too long. Here's a hint that might help you.

When researching for this part, the right disease is often listed by a different name than the answer. If you think you have an answer, read into it a little more.

I am stumped on 2.2. I think that I have found the right hints but I cannot seem to crack the solution.
    Any nudge would be welcome.

Make sure you pay attention to the description of the scientist. It has some important keys to helping you find the answer.

I had it right the first time but the key of the solution is quite selective in the wording... Thank you anyway!

There are a few different Dr. Johnsons you'll find that will lead you to the answer.

To be honest, In my case I think that the best hint provided by Misha is the third one, although there is quite some road to walk in that direction.

    Hints for 2.4:
Did you know that Kings in Europe believed that their reign was presented by God?
Tudor houses are quite interesting, are they not? Especially ones in England.

Since I had a bit of a time trying to work this out

Searching Slavic deities and reading their history is extremely important also use the animal clues from Msikas file.

try looking in to the nemesis of a code name from a live event .

    Nudgery:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MR2-1 BIO HAZARD

    Nudge:
When people talk about scary viruses, this one often comes up.
Did you see a list of viruses researched at the facilities from the last mission?

This one is on the list.

    Bigger Spoiler
    Check out that mortality rate!
    When did this outbreak occur?

Use this information in your search.

    Final Spoiler
If you were in the nation of the outbreak, you might be partying to Kuduro music.

This virus was first seen in people handling tissue of Chlorocebus sabaeus in an industrial plant the same year that Robert J. Oppenheimer died.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MR2-2 THE STRAIN

    Nudge:
The document says a doctor gave his life for this strain.
Find out about the death of a doctor during the research of our virus.

    Bigger Nudge:
A lot of our information comes from a defector from the Russian Bioweapons program who goes by the name of "Ken Alibek"

He described the acquisition of this strain in great detail.

    Final Nudge:
The document describes the doctor as trying to inject the virus into animal test subjects when he became infected himself.

What a way to go - yeesh. I hope his colleagues toast him - 'To Kolya!' they'd say.

When people get close, they develop nicknames for each other. Ask any Charles that goes by Chuck or William that goes by Bill. Russians do this too.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MR2-3 OCCULT VECTORS

    Nudge:
Look in the document section after #54CV

    Bigger Nudge:
Our agent goes into detail about what he found at his local library (he must know that having fun isn't hard if you've got a library card!)

Russians belong to an ethnic group known as Slavs - who have a richly detailed pre-Christian religion. See what you can find out that might fit with what our agent tells us.

Fun Fact: There is some overlap between Slavic pre-Christian beliefs and those of Sanskrit Veda faith. Proto-Indo-Europeans wandered and took their beliefs with them.

    Final Nudge:
We are dealing with bioweapons here - so we want a god that is associated with spreading disease if need be.

Think of places with disease. Swampy! Low, wet places where people believed nasty beasts and dragons would live. Our entity is associated with all of these things.

This being might be seen as the "enemy" of a god seen as more of a leader.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MR2-4 WORST CASE SCENARIO

Take a look at MSIKA's artifact requirements and search along those lines.
Oh, you tried that before coming here? Of course, my mistake. Here's a real nudge:

What is something DESIGNED to be carried in a pocket? And not your phone, something that has been designed to be carried in people's pockets for thousands of years?

Magic healing is rarely claimed by doctors - but has our agent mentioned one that might be an exception?

We are looking for magic used by royalty... not commoner or priestly magic.

    Bigger Nudge:
These objects that you might carry around are generally seen as having positive qualities - such as good luck. (In this case, healing abilities)

People aren't BORN as doctors - we all start out as babies. But babies, especially in the past, were prone to illness. There is a relevant case of this here.

In many parts of the world, a ruler is seen as having "The Mandate of Heaven." If a leader comes to power, obviously God wants it that way, and that person is somehow more divine that everyone else. They may even have "God Given" powers.

    Even Bigger Nudge:
Common legend is that if you give one of these items to a water spirit (who might live in a fountain) - it will grant you good luck and mojo.

Monarchs' "God Given" status as being "above" the dirty, common folk has given rise to the legend of "Swine Evil" or "scrofula." The only cure for scrofula is something holy and powerful - like the touch of a King or Queen.

    Final Nudge:
It's unrealistic to think that Kings and Queens could spend all of their time curing dirty street urchins of their Swine Evil with a TOUCH. This purity could be made portable of course, and placed into a kind of talisman or amulet. This piece could convey the healing power to the ruffian in question without the Queen needing to get off her royal keister.

mission 2.2 I'm certain that I have the correct virus, I just can't find anything on strains regarding that virus

the last person who died from it got infected in the UK

    for 2.2: you're looking for a variant of your answer in 2.1;
this variant is named after the researcher who died because of this variant, so your technically looking for its first victim, not the last one.

btw; it isnt mentioned in the english wiki (anymore).

There are 2 almost identically named wiki pages, its on the slightly longer named one

without knowing the answer, its pretty much impossible to find the strain on the wikipages for the virus, unless there is another page im unaware of?
i did find another wikipage that does reference the strain we are looking for though; but you need some googling to actually get there

As zaelong stated you have the disease if you answered 2.1, you also have a key piece of information from 2.1 that will allow you to track down the doctor and then from there the strain
